<p>I know that you’re very eager to lose those first 10 lbs.  In fact, 90% of Americans who join a gym or start an exercise program do so because they want to improve the way they look. But health should be measured from the inside out, not the outside in. It is completely unfair to judge your accomplishments by only watching the scale because it doesn’t show body fat loss or improvements in general health. Weight is only one parameter to assess your training results.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>Many people focus on the scale because that is how popular weight-loss diets, celebrities, television shows and the media have trained us. But how much you weigh without any other measurements doesn&#8217;t tell you much. You can gain five to 10 pounds just during your female cycle due to bloating. It is also possible to lose as much as five to 10 pounds of water if you sweat profusely during a workout. There are so many factors that affect the amount of water that you retain or lose that I can definitely confirm that weight alone does not tell you much.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>Your body is made up of 60–70% water, and the remaining percent is made up of muscle (lean body tissue), connective tissues  (bones, ligaments, tendons) and internal organs. You want to make sure that you’re not just losing water and muscle, but that you are actually decreasing body fat and improving your blood pressure, cholesterol levels, resting heart rate, strength, flexibility and cardiovascular fitness level. These are the measurements that, when improved, will decrease your risk of injury, decrease your risk of over 25 obesity related diseases (hypertension, diabetes, heart attack, stroke, hardening of the arteries, etc.) and increase the quality of your life.</p>
<p>A Body Composition Assessment includes: Body Weight, BMI, Waist Girth Measurement and Body Fat Analysis. These measurements collectively are a much better way to assess your training results. Watching these measurements change for the better will prove that it’s never too late to get started with a fitness program. It doesn’t matter if your 25 or 65, you are going to see improvements.</p>

<p>Let&#8217;s start with this simple truth: if you want to lose fat, start feeling great, and function at your absolute best, you HAVE to choose to start eating healthier NOW. Your body requires nutrients&#8211; vitamins, minerals, essential fatty acids, protein, carbohydrates, water, light, and oxygen &#8212; in order to accomplish your goals.</p>
<p>These nutrients are rarely found in the fast and processed foods that we consume at an alarming rate. Think about how often you settle for a dinner option you know is unhealthy just because it&#8217;s easier than cooking up something nutritious. I know, it happens; but if you continue to eat foods that are low in nutrients and high in processing chemicals, flavor enhancers, and preservatives, you&#8217;re setting your body up to suffer. Millions of people are living with diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and other ailments as a result of&#8211; or at least worsened by&#8211; making unhealthy food choices. Many of these people are also on medication for one or more of these ailments, with each prescription bringing its own set of side effects and risks. Pumping our bodies full of pills and chemicals as a corrective measure does not address the real source of our health issues&#8211; unhealthy food choices resulting in a poor diet. We don&#8217;t have to be slaves to a health food store or a highly restricted diet. The solution to our health crisis is at our fingertips.</p>

Low-intensity  workouts that gradually increase in intensity over time will help you build your aerobic base. When you build your aerobic base you become more efficient at using fat as a fuel source and you will be able to participate in high-intensity workouts without feeling nauseated or light-headed. High-intensity workouts help you increase  the amount of calories that you burn and will increase your metabolic rate, especially for the first two hours after your workout is complete. High-intensity workouts put a greater demand on your muscles, which will create a greater physical response. Both styles of workouts are important and both will help you burn fat, burn calories, and change you physique!</p>

It&#8217;s great to be inspired &amp; motivated by other people but be careful not to compare your journey to closely to someone else&#8217;s. Too often, men and women compare themselves to social standards of health &amp; beauty that are plastered across magazine covers and television screens. Others measure their success by standards placed on them by their parents, friends, partners, bosses, jobs, or community. Well this journey shouldn&#8217;t be about them, it should be about YOU. You don&#8217;t have to allow anyone else&#8217;s standards of beauty to define you. You must define yourself so that you have a positive way of standing firm against the negative stereotypes and small-mindedness of others that may have eroded your self-confidence in the past. You should measure your progress by focusing on yourself, your starting point, your goals, your progress, and your success.</p>

				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>No, it is not good to run everyday. Running everyday puts a lot of stress on your joints, bones and connective tissues. Most avid runners, suffer from shin splints, lower back pain, tight hip flexors, tight hamstrings, hip, knee, ankle and foot pain, tight muscles and foot disorders like plantar faciitis and bone spurs. Running is not the problem but doing the same activity over and over again is. Any activity repeated over and over will cause some sort of wear and tear on your body. It doesn’t matter if it is swimming, cycling, tennis, aerobic dance class, boxing, racquetball, or hiking. If you repeat the same movement everyday your body will suffer from some sort of overuse.</p>

				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Are  you ready to take the first step towards leading a healthy lifestyle? Well, before you get up and start moving take a moment to sit down and make a plan because failing to plan is planning to fail. Before you jump into a new workout program start with an assessment to determine how to get the most out of it.  Follow the steps below to assess your current fitness level, identify your objectives and learn how to stay on track.</p>
<ul>
<li><strong>Write it down.</strong> Buy a journal to organize workouts, monitor progress and keep goals top of mind.</li>
<li><strong>Be reasonable and specific.</strong> When creating goals, don’t tell yourself “I want to lose weight.” Instead, rephrase into “I want to lose 5 pounds and tone my abs.” This will make your target seem more achievable.</li>
<li><strong>Get numbers. </strong>Measure your waist, hips, thighs and arms with a standard tape measure. Determine your body mass index (BMI)—go to caloriecontrol.org for an online BMI calculator—and weigh yourself to get an accurate baseline. Recheck each week to determine whether you’re challenging yourself enough.</li>
<li><strong>Charge your MP3.</strong> Create playlists of songs that motivate you and make you want to get up &amp; move!!</li>
<li><strong>Schedule workouts. </strong> Get out your PDA or planner and block out time each day to exercise. When training becomes a regular part of your agenda, it’s easier to stay on track. Shoot for early-morning exercise when you’re more likely to go. You’ll also have more energy and power-up your metabolism for the rest of the day.</li>
</ul>

				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Most of you know the old saying, “You are what you Eat”!  Well, it actually has a lot of truth to it. Here are some tips for creating beauty from the inside out starting with what you put into your mouth.</p>
<p><strong>Checklist to Beautiful Glowing Skin and Hair</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Drink half of your bodyweight in ounces of water a day.  If you weigh 180lbs you should be drinking 80ounces of water</li>
<li>Avoid toxins by limiting the amount of junk food and processed food that you eat.</li>
<li>Increase your intake of organic fresh fruits, vegetables, whole grains/fiber, cold water fish, and lean cuts of meat.</li>
<li>Consume 1gram of protein per pound of ideal lean body weight.</li>
<li>Consume Essential Fatty acids Omega-6 and Omega-3 found in organic flax seed oil, walnuts/walnut oil or fish oil capsules daily (essential fats are destroyed with heat). Note:99% of American’s are deficient in Omega-3 fatty acids.</li>
<li>Consume three times a week cold water fish  such as salmon, trout, tuna, sardines, halibut, herring and mackerel (essential fats are destroyed with heat).</li>
<li>Consume chromium, Vitamin A, zinc, silicon, sulfur, vitamin E and vitamin C through a daily Multivitamin.</li>
<li>Soaps and skin creams containing neem oil, whose minor ingredients have antiseptic properties that can help keep pores from becoming infected.</li>
<li>Saunas, exercise, and cold water make skin glow by removing toxins and improving circulation.</li>
<li>Herbs such as rosemary, chamomile, aloe vera and peppermint are helpful, and neem oil both protects skin and kills virus, fungus and bacterial infections.</li>
